Jim is the General Manager of Danbury Competition Engines (DCE) and nephew of Joe LaPine, the founder of DCE. Jim continues to learn the craft and science of high performance engine building under his uncle and continues the tradition of the company as the business grows due to increased capabilities, increased expertise of staff, and DCE’s good name in the community. Jim holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with three decades of design experience. Jim’s most significant accomplishment in the powersport industry includes the ground-up design and development of a high-performance race/street engine for the Harley Davidson aftermarket. This product is at the final stages of development and is planned to soon become part of a new product offering at DCE.
In addition, Jim has developed new products to support the 7.3L Ford Godzilla engine including a new, low profile intake manifold aimed at the Fox-body mustang market and similar applications.

Jeff, founder of Danbury Chassis & Dyno (DCD), built business on earning customers trust and providing excellent customer service with value added support. His name spread at Drag Races, showing off his work through his car and taking home 9 Wallies to include a most coveted win at the 2015 NHRA US Nationals in Indy and three championships. Other racing fields also include Circle Track and Road Racing.
He supports current customers – of the combined DCE and DCD – at these races and advises them throughout their race weekend with encouragement, any complimentary quick fixes that are needed and even lining them up in the pits. Jeff has known and worked with Joe Lapine for over 30 years and Jim Botelho for almost 20 years. These relationships and group project efforts through the years resulted in the successful combining of DCE and DCD for a larger, more successful “One Stop Shop” where customers can come to receive great service with integrity and value.

I brought my 1927 Ford Model T Hotrod to Danbury Competition Engines after installing a Tunnel Ram on the motor, only to encounter stalling issues whenever I put it in gear. Jeff Roell, their mechanic, immediately diagnosed the problem even before laying eyes on the car, showcasing their unparalleled expertise. Not only did they resolve the issue swiftly, but they also meticulously tuned and Dyno tested my engine. The result? My Hotrod has never run smoother. With years of experience under their belt, Jim Botelho and his team exemplify excellence, and their machine shop is truly second to none.
